Bushwire sends messages from phone to phone over Bluetooth. When there is no mobile data or wifi, your message hops through other phones running Bushwire until it reaches the person you are writing to.

Every phone passes it on.
There are no towers and no servers in the middle. The phones are the network, and the more people nearby run Bushwire, the further messages travel.
1. Write as usual
Private chats are end-to-end encrypted, so only the person you are writing to can read them.
2. It hops phone to phone
Nearby phones carry it along over Bluetooth, and can hold on to it until they meet the next phone. They cannot read what they carry.
3. It arrives
You see it go from Queued, to In the mesh, to Delivered. Out of range is not out of reach.
A full messenger that needs no network.
Private chats
Add a contact by scanning their QR code. Only the two of you can read your messages. Phones that pass them along cannot.
Group chats
Encrypted groups for your crew, family or event, with up to 100 people.
Open Mesh
A public channel for everyone nearby: road conditions, lost and found, where to meet. It is not encrypted, and the app always says so.
Todo lists
Who is bringing what and what still needs doing. Due dates, assignees and repeating jobs, shared phone to phone.
Notebooks
Shared pages the whole group can write: procedures, kit lists, radio schedules. If two people edit while apart, both versions are kept.

Honest about what it is.
- Messages travel only between phones running Bushwire. Bluetooth reaches tens of metres, and distance comes from other phones relaying, so delivery can take minutes or hours and is not guaranteed.
- Do not rely on Bushwire in an emergency. Always use official emergency services where you can.
- Joining and using groups, todo lists and notebooks someone invites you to is free. Bushwire Pro, a one-time purchase, lets you create and manage them.
- Bushwire has not yet had an independent security review.
